Iowa has many wedding venues. However, a much smaller number of those venues are genuinely built around the full weekend experience. Most offer a day rental, possibly with early access for setup. A true Iowa weekend wedding venue, where one couple has exclusive access to the full property from Friday through Sunday, is a different category entirely.
The Era is built around that model. Here is what that actually means, and why it matters for couples who want their wedding to feel like more than a single compressed evening.
The first thing that distinguishes The Era from most Iowa venues is exclusivity. We host one couple per weekend. When you book a Saturday, the entire Friday-through-Sunday window belongs to your wedding. There are no other events, no other wedding parties sharing the property, and no rotation schedule that determines when you can access the space.
Additionally, this exclusivity extends to the vendor experience. Because your team is the only team on the property all weekend, setup happens on your timeline, coordination is simpler, and the day itself has none of the logistical friction that comes from sharing a venue with multiple events.
At The Era, all-inclusive means a specific list of things: tables, chairs, decor, linens, napkins, setup, teardown, bar service through Apres Bar Co., the Luxury Bridal Loft, a groom’s suite, on-site lodging for up to 19 inner circle guests, day-of venue coordination, and both indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces. All of this comes with the full weekend rental.
Furthermore, we put our pricing on the website. Couples deserve to know the real number before they come for a tour, not after they have already fallen in love with the space. Transparent pricing is not a marketing strategy. It is a basic respect thing.
The on-site lodging at The Era is not an add-on or a nearby hotel partnership. It is accommodation directly on the 20-plus-acre property, available for up to 19 inner circle guests. Your wedding party, immediate family, and closest friends wake up Saturday already at the venue. They do not commute. The getting-ready morning starts from a place of calm rather than logistics.
Moreover, the end of the night is different when the inner circle stays on-property. Nobody misses the last song managing departure logistics. The celebration winds down naturally. And Sunday morning exists in a way that most weddings never experience.
The team you communicate with during planning is the team present on your wedding day. This consistency matters more than most couples realize until they have experienced the alternative. A venue coordinator who knows your vision, your timeline, and your preferences because they have been in communication with you for months is a fundamentally different experience than handing off to someone you have never met.
At The Era, that continuity is part of how we operate. Consequently, couples arrive on their wedding day feeling supported rather than starting from zero with a new team.
The Era began as a 1910 hayloft, restored deliberately to preserve the character that makes the space feel like somewhere specific. The original structure, the proportions, the sense that something meaningful happened here before you arrived, all of this remains. Around it, we added everything that makes a modern wedding actually work: climate control, a Luxury Bridal Loft with six stations, proper restrooms, and the full infrastructure a wedding day requires.
The result is a venue that feels like a place with a story, because it is, and that functions like a well-run, fully equipped wedding operation.
Come see The Era in person and experience the difference.
