I’ve been around weddings for a long time. I’ve seen brides in tears — not the happy kind — because they didn’t get a single moment to look around and actually take it all in. I’ve watched families scramble to load up cars at 11pm while still in their formal wear. I’ve heard grooms say they barely remember the reception because it went so fast.
That’s exactly why we built The Era the way we did. Because a wedding deserves more than a single day.

Here’s what a typical single-day wedding looks like. You’re at the venue by 7am. You spend hours getting ready, doing photos, managing vendors, and keeping everyone calm. The ceremony happens. You blink. Now it’s 10:30pm and someone is handing you a trash bag because the venue needs to clear out by midnight.
You spent months — sometimes years — planning this day. And it’s over before you had a chance to enjoy it. A wedding weekend venue solves this in a way that a single-day rental simply can’t.
When you book a wedding weekend venue like The Era, the whole energy shifts. On Friday, you arrive and settle in. Your closest people are all on-site. You do your rehearsal dinner without any rush, stay up too late laughing with the people you love, and actually sleep before your big day.
Saturday morning, you wake up on-property. You’re not rushing across town or sitting in a car in your robe. Instead, you’re sipping mimosas in the bridal loft while your hair gets done. There’s natural light flooding in, a private balcony for a quiet moment, and a separate kitchenette so your getting-ready snacks don’t taste like hairspray. (Yes, we thought of that.)
The ceremony happens. The reception is everything you planned. And at the end of the night — here’s the part I love most — nobody has to do a thing. The décor, the cleanup, the loading up? That all waits until Sunday. As a result, your family gets to go to bed as a family.
Sunday morning, you wake up with your people still around you. You have coffee and hug your grandma without rushing to the next thing. You sit in the space that just held the best night of your life and you actually get to feel it.
One thing couples don’t always think about is what the wedding weekend venue experience does for their guests. When everyone stays on-site — and we accommodate up to 19 guests — nobody watches the clock for a Lyft. Nobody misses the last dance because of a long drive. People are present. Fully, joyfully present.
That presence is what you’ll remember. Not the centerpieces or the seating chart. The way your dad was still on the dance floor at midnight. The fact that your best friend was there when you woke up the next morning.

We also wanted to take the coordination headache off your plate. Tables, chairs, décor, linens, napkins, setup, and teardown are all included. Bar service comes from Jillian and the team at Après Bar Co. — and yes, there are donkeys involved, which is as delightful as it sounds. Additionally, indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces give you options no matter what Iowa weather decides to do.
We wanted to build a wedding weekend venue where you could show up and just be the couple getting married. Not the project manager of your own wedding.
If you’ve been nodding along to any of this, it probably is. The couples who love The Era most want their wedding to feel like a celebration with their people — not a perfectly choreographed event they watch from a distance.
If that sounds like you, we’d love to show you around. Come see the space, meet the team, and picture yourself waking up here the morning after the best night of your life.
